I am looking into a story about online videos and video blogs and would love to hear about your picks! Not Rocketboom, though, ok? I am a big fan, but we aready profiled them.
So, yes, that means things like the Christmas lights or the Chronic of Narnia, or Vlog Santa.
I like the way ourmedia video works. Simple, nothing to figure out and it's open sourcey.
Great for small time operators and indie folks.
It has some big support. http://www.ourmedia.org/mission/partners

If I wanted to publish video, this looks like a good way to go.
Have you heard of Groundhog 202? Their site is www.groundhog202.com, but their videos are also available on Google Video, YouTube and StupidVideos.com.
The 'Eric Rice Show'... www.ericrice.com
By far and away one of the best I have ever come across is: http://www.storewars.org/flash/index.html
Namaste

It's not of the funny video genre, more of "the videos can be helpful and practical" school. My current favorite tutorial video source is ScreenCasts Online ( http://donmc.libsyn.com/ ).
This is a hilarious viral video i stumbled on a few days ago. It views like a daily news meet jay leno on the street meet ali g type video... i think they're advertising themself as the funniest show on the web... now that's a new phenomena...

Thanks,

Tiki Bar TV in podcast is the funniest most orginal uses of this new media I have seen its definetly worth and laugh and a download.
I came across this really interesting one...
http://www.kitkast.com
Usually, this isn't my cup of tea, but Ms. Kitka, the owner of the site, manages to keep it informative and interesting.
It's worth checking it out at least once.
I'm a fan of history and of diving, (and divers!). There is a site "shipwreckcentral.com that includes a videoblog from the Sea Hunters TV show team that they do when they are on the road on a new dive. I've never seen anything like it, especially from a TV show, they just seem like normal guys. They don't podcast, but for sure you would describe it as a videoblog, since they upload video reports directly from the field on to their blog. It's been a little slow recently because they are not out on a dive, but check out the archives of different shows. Anyway, I'm hooked, and it's my favorite videoblog ever.
90 Seconds of Dave. Dave Huth is one of the most creative people in Vlogging that I know of. He actually has done an independent movie in serial form called Lorem Ibsum.

I run Google Video of the Day which has been a modestly successful video blog at http://gvod.blogspot.com. I invite you to take a look and see if it's right for your story. Basically, what I do is search through Google Video's huge content vaults and post the funny, strange, interesting, and sometimes just plain stupid videos. People seem to like it and I'm having a lot of fun.
There's an explosion of awesome content out there in the vlogosphere. Here are a few of my favorites. In addition to these, you might enjoy going to
http://vlogmap.org
which shows vlogs from around the world
OK, here's some of my faves.

Mini-features about street fairs, gay culture, and the immortalist movement, among other things. Randy has a great eye and is a fearless interviewer.

Bre Pettis makes stuff and interviews people who make stuff.

Ever wonder what it would be like to be an IT person who in midlife goes to nursing school? This is the vlog for you! Plus, she gets special random weirdness points for having a parrot perched on her shoulder most of the time.

Check out his crazy "Carp Caviar" project.

OK, what the heck, here's my vlog. This is a mix of interviews (just interviewed a guy who implanted an RFID
chip into his hand) and comedy (the twinky bath is good sticky fun).
Well, you are rather general with your term "video blogs", so I'll mention twenty-fifth dimension (25thdimension.blogsome.com). It's a multimedia blog I run focusing mainly on video editing and production (mine is one of the only in its category). Just click my name for quick link.
For some online short videos, also check out my site at: www.paintful.net/shorts
And you can view a round-up of video sharing websites here: http://25thdimension.blogsome.com/2005/11/01/the-creme-de-video-sharing-websites
OK, my sons made them, but they are god - especially Dry Ice:

Break.com, used to be big-boys. Started checking them about a year ago and now go back 3-4 times a week. I also check out Rocketboom and Steve Garfield
Channel Frederator (http://channelfrederator.com)
This weekly film-festival-in-your-hand comes from the producers of the hilarious Fairly Oddparents, and bills themselves as "the world's original cartoon podcast." Right now it's #35 on the iTunes directory (#4 in Arts&Entertainment). Funny, interesting, great packaging.
Also, probably not up your alley, but I'm loving VODcars (http://vodcars.com), right now #13 in iTunes.
Tiki Bar TV is currently my favorite out there. Goes above and beyond everything else I've seen because it's such a simple idea with such great results.
Eric Rice & Steve Garfield both do great stuff as well which I'm a fan of. Eric's recent dog sledding cast was an instant favorite.
Washingtonpost.com has great reporting (and beautiful photography) from Banda Aceh
Danny's Contentment is a blog by an actual filmmaker - Danny Fleet, a stellar pro - who puts up video blogs about his experience as an electric car owner in London. It is excellent.

David Eick's behind the scenes videoblog for Battlestar Galactica is a hoot:

Heya,
I am starting to go through these now and these are great! Thanks to everyone for taking the time to list their favorites.
Heather, sounds like a very interesting article. Our site, Buzznet.com (leading community / photo sharing site) will be rolling out video in the next few days, and we would love to give you a preview.
Cheers, Marc.
I use video only to supplement written material and photos, but my use of it is growing and is definitely becoming more popular with my readers. Plain and simple: It is the future.

There is nothing else quite like it out in the vlog-o-sphere. It's a narrative story about the mundane workings of a modern couple.

Most vlogs are an expression of mental illness. We feel sorry for them, but understand that what they need is a good, old fashioned, dose of humility. It's called Rabbit Bites people. Take your medicine!
