Look for Yahoo! to unveil a response to Google’s blog search early next week. This from Bradley Horowitz, director of tech development in the company’s search group. He wouldn’t provide details in advance. And it could be that Yahoo’s announcement will cover only one aspect of blog or RSS search, and not the comprehensive release the search industry’s waiting for. (Blogsurfers got a glimpse last summer of what Yahoo’s cooking up when a test version of the company’s RSS search leaked briefly into the public domain.)
Yahoo’s announcement comes less than a month after Google’s release of its much antipated blog search. The Google engine, while fast and competent, has drawn few raves. (Here’s my review) Blog search is a big chance for number-two Yahoo to steal the march on the search king.
I don't know, everytime that Google comes out with something, Yahoo! imitates it. And then doesn't do it as well. Sure, it would be a nice addition, but I hope they will introduce something new and different for a change. Otherwise I will stick with "the real thing".

Blog search performance is a mixed bag. Here's a link to a post that compares blog searches by Technorati, Google, MSN, Yahoo, Feedster, and Ice Rocket against a highly specific tag (LINQ):

Why doesn't Google and Yahoo JUST INTEGRATE
their Blogsearch with their already established
NEWS SEARCH - as a search option....
...just put another Tab or Radio Button for "BLOGs" to limit searches to blogs exclusively.
why go on a seperate page to search?
Blog Search is another way for SE's to make money thru booming ad industry.
Thanks for this great post. You've got some really good info in your blog. If you get a chance, you can check out my blog on

Does anyone know the status of this project? Search engines seem to want to have their finger in every pie.
I hope everyone has enjoyed the blog as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
