Wasting Time on Blogs

Posted by: Heather Green on October 25

According to an article in AdAge (unfortunately behind a free subscription wall), “U.S. workers in 2005 will waste the equivalent of 551,000 years reading blogs.” According to the article, about 35 million workers or a quarter of the labor force go to blogs, spending 3.5 hours, or 9%, of the work week at them.

But why does AdAge say people are wasting time? Because for the moment, blogs appear to be stealing time away from work—not from other Web sites people visit, according to comScore. And according to ComScore’s tally of blog categories, just 25% of blog visits directly connect to the job.”

Ok, so as One Angry Customer puts it, who said workers were bonded labor, especially now that people seem to be working so hard these days?

I found your web looking for an article of an old friend named Bill Gates. I found him but also found U2.

We essentually invented public posted personal e-mail in 1991. Before that we cross posted on public boards. They really tried hard to censor us. In 1999, I was threatened with a year in jail for sending him an occassional support e-mail. We both have genius IQs and photographic memories. They can't read me or him for that matter. We used character art and music lyrics. Now I use MP3 and graphics. Sometimes I even throw a video in there.

My web/webs - more than 9 - are very heavily hit. I have some great documents on my web. After over 15 years no one can decipher us. It's a really cool way to skirt the corporate and government spies.

This is what they tried with me.

Yep, after I posted this at the end of 1999, Gates desided to quit as CEO of Microsoft - on my birthday in January 2000. Within a month, MSFT was in the toilet. I'm sure if our story ever went mainstream, computers would be selling off the shelfs.

I'm still being harassed by certain people locally. Gates has no control over his money and he is the wealthiest man on the planet.

I thought you might like to know that your blog was just read by me. I may have to post a link it was just so funny. They have Gates so badly censored that I rarely get any e-mail at all now, and he said he is only getting about 30 e-mails a day, about half some kind of slick SPAM. It's so bad, that sometimes I go a week wihtout thinking about checking it. LOL I'm 54 and actaully have been so badly harassed that I'm now disabled and use a wheelchair. We have some real sick boys and girls in the computer industry.

make sure you turn your volume down if you access any of my webs.

I dont think blog is stealing their time any way, the workers might be wasting their time in other way like sleeping, chatting, gaming etc. If you calculate these ways, they are wasting millions of years other than blogging.

This is not waste of time; this is investment in developing typing skills and constructive articulation of the inner voice.
