Ning, the former stealth project co-founded by Marc Andreessen and code-named 24 Hour Laundry, is out and TechCrunch has the goods. (I mean, a rundown…)In short, though, Ning is a free service designed to help people build their own social apps.
It’s part of the mashup movement that’s taking the do it yourself web to the next level, because you don’t need to be a developer to, as Ning puts it, do your own version of Craigslist or your own take on Flickr. For companies and individuals alike it seems like an interesting way to play around with creative and commercial ideas.
Maybe Marc Andreessen catches lightNing in a bottle again?
Would be fascinating to see it happen!
