I just tried Google blog search, and am I right in that it is the traditional Google tool, ranking by the most popular blog posts over time? If that’s right, I don’t know if this is the main blog search engine for me. I want to see what’s popular recently, to get a sense of the rhythm online. But I might be missing something. Would love pointers to smart reviews of this thing.
UPDATE: Susan Mernit has some early thoughts, and links to Nick W. at Threadwatch, who says it isn’t blog search, it’s feed search and explains the difference. His take?
“I like it. I do think it’s limited, I do think it’s a little bit of a letdown, but I think we could see some interesting things as they improve, and im looking forward to it. So there.”
Dave Winer, who also tackles Google search, points to the thread that Memeorandum has pulled together.
