One of the hottest food blogs, I’m told, is ChocolateandZucchini. My colleague Susann Rutledge went to meet the blogger in New York, and found a whole crowd of new friends—a blog experience every bit as magical as the perfect chocolate souffle. Susann’s story:
Chocolate and Zucchini is written by the charming Clotilde Dusoulier, a twentysomething Parisienne who writes in English and has spent time in the States. I first learned about her through her freelance gig with NPR.When she and her boyfriend, Maxence, visited NYC a few weeks ago, she arranged an open invitation get-together downtown at Otto. The event was like one colossal blind date with over 30 strangers showing up to meet Clotilde and each other. I think many of us expected to find at least a few weirdos in the bunch, and to only stay for one drink. Instead, most folks hung out for 3 hours, and a smaller group of us ended up staying for dinner.
At least half the crowd were bloggers (many food-related). Emails and urls were exchanged, and many of us are already arranging a potluck dinner later this month. A week after the event, I spent the day with two of my instant friends, one of whom blogs here.
"Weirdos in the bunch" I love it.
I am looking for the article Too much money in the July 11 Newsweek, and am frustrated at not finding it.
