How to name a blog? A document

Posted by: Stephen Baker on April 25

We hear it all the time in the blog world: Post your notes and your documents. Be transparent!

Alright. Here for your viewing pleasure are notes from one session in which we went just about nuts trying to come up with a name for this blog. Read through, and you’ll see how desperate we were. The typed items on the sheet are three suggestions for cover language. All three came up short on what turned out to be a fruitless afternoon. View image

Thank goodness you didn't choose "Bla Bla Blog." That would have been the kiss of death!

A belated welcome to the world of blogging!

So what will be the focus of this blog? To cover blogs? the business of blogs? the world of business, macro style? individual companies in business?

What will drive interest? What do Baker & Green bring to it? Changing news? Deep thoughts on business? All of the above?

Interesting and timely main article. There is a need for good business blogs, but not just navel gazing at the idea of a blog itself.

Good luck reading and approving all posts, especially if your blog takes off.

Great story on blogging. I feel now I am on the groundfloor of a communications revolution, as you pointed out. I created my blog, http://autocity4u.blogspot.com, to comunicate with my employees and customers. It is a tremendously exciting tool for my business(car dealership).

Thanks for sharing the picture of your brainstorming on the name - marvellous! Great to see blogging being covered from a business viewpoint. The best compliment I can give on the name is wishidathoughtofthat :)

Brain storming at its finest. I like it. This is a work of art. It needs to be displayed in an art museum. How about with the title "blogged, blogging, blogg" or "To Blog or Not to Blog".

Nice to have the time to brainstorm the name issue; looking at the ideas (I wonder how many will pop up elsewhere?) I think you chose a good name, but unfortunately you have led me to review my own choice - it was a very hasty "fill in the form" choice. Huh!

Great story for the "blog impaired" (like me). It provided a succinct overview and give us beginners a starting-point

Some of those are cool -- I bet you'll see a lot of them in use before long! Heck, I practically want to steal some of them!

Great to see your brainstorm on paper. In fact, you inspired me to do the same in my challenge to come up with a name for my blog this week.

I put my brainstorm scribbles on my blog and linked to yours to acknowledge where I got the idea!

From a long list, I settled on Square Vision as it's about modular flooring (aka carpet tiles):

The other day I ran accross a nifty and cool brainstorming website and at no charge I might add. It works based on the mental object of uniting assorted ideas from your idea into a list and then the utility permutates original permutations based on the list, that in turn generates factors you would never think of. After locating it, I use it often, because it does help conceptually darn well. Brainstorming Software

This is a great way to brainstorm and have others comment. Picking a blog name is hard becuase there are so many that have been taken and it depends on the keywords for your site.
