Webroot Takes Root

Watch out Norton: There's a new anti-spy software moving up the bestseller list. Spy Sweeper Tech Bench from closely-held Webroot became the second-best selling retail software in August -- leaping from the No. 7 spot in July, according to the NPD Group. The popularity surge might have had something to do with the software's $13 price tag -- the second lowest among the top 20 titles. Still, Symantec's dominant market position is unwavering. Its Norton Antivirus 2005 held onto the top spot and other Symantec titles snagged five of the top ten slots.
