Engineering Growth Engine


Rumors of the death of U.S. engineering, it appears, are exaggerated. The number of engineering and technology services jobs grew by almost 50,000, or 3.3%, in the first half, according to the American Electronics Association. That was the fastest pace among industries that include software, which posted 3% growth, and electronics manufacturing, which expanded 2.5%. Overall, tech added 140,000 jobs in the period, expanding 2.5%. Much of the growth came in the second quarter, particularly in June, when 54,200 jobs were added.
