Gateway Dominates Desktop PC Sales

Computing giant Hewlett-Packard, which has long prided itself on offering the most top-selling desktop PCs in retail stores, is in for a shock. Much-smaller rival Gateway is moving up the ranks. In February, Gateway offered five of the top-10 best-selling desktops at retail stores, while only four HP models made it onto the list. Looks like Gateway's 2004 purchase of eMachines is paying off -- big time.
