Faster Onramp to Info Superhighway


When it comes to navigating the Net, speed is king. Two-thirds of all active Internet users now have a high-speed connection, while a dwindling percentage depends on dial-up, according to research by Nielsen/Net Ratings.

An ongoing battle for customers between phone companies and cable-service providers is helping keep broadband prices low, while there's seemingly no end to the variety of devices consumers can use to surf the Web at fast speeds. Still, the percentage of the population that's using the Internet is steady at about 74%.
