Funding U.S. Transportation


Since 2009, Congress has apportioned about $38.8 billion annually for the nation’s transportation needs. That money goes into the Highway Trust Fund, which the Transportation Department disperses among the states to pay for the upkeep of highways, bridges and other programs.
