Salma Hayek, iPhone User

Posted by: Arik Hesseldahl on April 23, 2009

hayek.jpgSomeone with too much time on their hands, and a good head for guessing password hints has apparently hacked the email account of the actress Selma Hayek. She is an iPhone user, and as such uses Apple’s MobileMe service for her email. Defamer has the details here.

The person who gained control of Hayek’s account published screen shots of what they found, which was in fact nothing terribly interesting: Just the same kind of day-to-day stuff that appears in everyone’s email in-box, but with a few more boldface names.

What I find interesting is the iPhone apps she has installed: Urbanspoon, the amazing Shazam, Pandora Radio, Say Who, a voice dialer, a dictionary app and a translator app, both of which must come in handy.

Clearly hacking an email account is not a very nice thing to do, and it may be illegal, depending on where the crack took place. But one would think that Hayek, given her status as an internationally known celebrity, would have been given a little talk about making her account a little more difficult for an outsider to access. Supposedly getting her password involved knowing her birthday, and the name of her most famous movie role. Whoops.

Apparently she uses my app, Dictionaire. Wow. That's amazing.

Just for the record, the name is "Salma," not "Selma."
