Techcrunch notes the release of Qik for the iPhone. Qik is the live video-streaming application for high-end mobile phones that essentially streams video directly to the Web live. I did a segment on it for my weekly video podcast “The Wireless Way” last month. The bad news is that the application only works on “jailbroken” phones, and then only on those running iPhone firmware 1.1.4, which basically means that if you’ve updated your phone to version 2.0 — which means your phone works with the iTunes App Store — you’re out of luck. Seems to me that Qik would be a natural for the App Store. With luck they’ll get it running in some officially sanctioned manner soon.
