The buzz around new iPhone apps — and the companies behind them — is about to start moving fast and furious.
I don’t have many details yet but I’ve just heard that Qik is coming to the iPhone, and will be available as an Alpha as soon as next week. Heres a video of its first iPhone demo, and I’ve embedded it below.
Qik, in case, you haven’t heard of it, is a live video broadcasting service that turns-high end wireless phones into live TV cameras. So far it has worked only with phones running the Symbian OS, like the Nokia N95. And just recently it announced support for Windows Mobile devices. As you can see below, it’s coming for the iPhone and will be especially intriguing once the iPhone 3G hits the market on July 11. More details as soon as I have them.
There’s also a similar app for jailbroken iPhones called Flixwagon, and you can see a demo of that here.
I’m betting we’re going to be hearing a great deal about interesting iPhone apps in the coming weeks. I’m particularly interested to hear about Tapulous, which is building social networking apps for the iPhone. Among its investors is Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce.com, which is itself a big backer of the iPhone.
