Further to yesterday’s big judgment against Dell by a New York judge, the New York Attorney General’s office is urging people who think they’ve been victims of what its calling that company’s “deceptive and negligent business practices” to seek restitution. It’s launched a Web site at www.nyagdell.com, where Dell customers in New York state can register their complaints and seek restition. The judge in the case, which was brought by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo last year, ruled that Dell had engaged in deceptive advertising around warranties on its computers, and around the terms of its financing. Dell reckons its had between 6 million transactions with New York consumers between 2003 and 2006. Between lousy service from Dell and a lousy personal computing experience from Microsoft, I wonder how many of those 6 million New Yorkers have since switched to the Mac?
At least A. Cuomo has not set himself out on the much more difficult task of finding happy Dell customers! ;)
