MacRumors, citing a report on Blogging Robots that are are signs within iCal, included with the latest update of Leopard that Apple’s .Mac (pronounced dotMac) is about to be renamed and probably revamped substantially.
One rumor that’s been making the rounds for awhile, is that the new service would be revamped around the new iPhone, and include services like Exchange-like push email. I’ve been saying since 2006 that Apple needs to seriously boost the capabilities of .Mac, and that is close relationship with Google could make it much easier. We’ll know in 10 days.
Update:TUAW has a little more info on this, citing Gruber and a Russian site called DeepApple. The name of the new service appears to be Mobile Me, which would coincide with a trademark filing which AppleInsider noted in 2006.
