The Beatles On iTunes -- At Last?

Posted by: Arik Hesseldahl on March 07

beat.jpgThis little drama has gone on so long that I’ve almost reached the point that I no longer care, and yet I find I still do. MacDailyNews noticed this story from London saying that as soon as Paul McCartney’s divorce from Heather Mills is settled (ahem, $40 to $60 million for four years of marriage?) that the remaining roadblocks to bring The Beatles catalog to iTunes will be for all intents and purposes, overcome. The good news for the newly-single Sir Paul, London’s Daily Mail suggests, is that the iTunes release could be worth some 200 million pounds, or about $400 million given today’s exchange rate.

McCartney himself has told Billboard Magazine that the whole thing “primed” and that one sticking point was in the process of being worked out. So, with luck some of the most influential pop music of the last 100 years will finally be available from the second most-popular music retailer in the U.S. Seems about time no?
