Cliff Is At the Apple Event....And Sending Emails

Here’s the rundown as I get it on announcements at the Apple event in San Francisco.
- Latest count on the iTunes library is 6 million songs, and 3 billion sold so far. 600 million copies of iTunes in use, 95 million TV shows sold.
- iTunes’ latest version, comes with a custom ringtone maker. It will be available next week. 500,000 songs will be available for use. They’ll cost 99 cents to in addition to the cost of the song.
- Four new colors for the iPod shuffle, including one for Project Red.
- New iPod Nano that can play video and sports a wider screen, and which will support album cover float like the iPhone. Will be bundled with three games. Battery life up to 24 hours for audio and 5 hours for video. 4 GB for $149, 8GB for $199. In stores this weekend.
- Main-line iPod is now iPod classic. Silver and black, and comes in capacities of 80 GB for $249 and 160 GB for $349.
- iPod touch. Like an iPhone, without the phone. Same interface. 8 millimeters thin. Multi-touch screen. It has WiFi! Comes with its own Safari browser and supports YouTube. 8GB $299, 16 GB $399. Shipping later this month.
- WiFI version of iTunes on iPod touch and iPhone. Partnership with Starbucks, Hear music playing and you can download it via the WiFi hotspot in the Starbucks right then and there.
- Price on the iPhone has dropped to to $399 for the 8 GB version. Steve says the millionth iPhone will ship by the end of the month.
