So while reading up on the oPhone, I noticed another entry on the Inside Microsoft Blog saying that the Portable Media Center platform has been officially killed. Did anyone notice? Here’s the explanation from MSFT’s Jason Tsang.
In case you missed it, Microsoft’s Portable Media Center design concept predated the video iPod by a few months, and it featured devices from the usual round of characters: Creative, iRiver, and Samsung. Obviously the products never got sufficient market traction, and Microsoft stopped licensing the software. No need to wonder why, I suppose.
