Ben Rudolph of Parallels just dropped a line with some interesting news for those in the market for a Mac and plans to run Parallels. Tech Data will be selling a selection of 13 different Macs with Parallels and Windows XP Pro pre-installed. No need to go through all the hoops of installing and configuring everything yourself, these Macs will be ready to run Mac OS and Windows right out of the box. No word on price, but you can assume that the cost of both Windows, Parallels and some labor will be factored in.
This is very interesting.
The total street price value of these two pieces of software is $150+ USD. And—given that most people want to have Windows XP on their Mac, "just in case"—it is actually worth the $150.
Hopefully, the uplift will be low. It does give the resellers a chance to charge list price for the Mac and yet give a spiff to entice the buyer.
