This is so far playing out as expected: IMac first. Other models to follow. The new iMac will be similar to the current model: built-in iSight camera, 17-inch and 20-inch displays. Same price points. It will sport an Intel Duo, which is the Dual-Core Intel chip. Wow. That’s a good start.
The main reason for the intel chip switch has a lot to do with overheating problems experienced with the G5 chip in a confined space. Plus Apple have been looking for a more powerful alternative for their "books" than the venerable G4 chip. So doing a partnership with Intel for these two product lines makes perfect sense. The bonus for the books is that the Intel chipset is less energy hungry, so your battery should last a lot longer.
