Jamie Oliver wins $100,000 TED Prize, calls for healthy food movement in schools

British chef Jamie Oliver was given the $100,000 TED Prize on Wednesday night, and you can now watch his impassioned plea for America (and the world) to embrace a healthy food movement in the video below. It was a pretty moving presentation, and the audience responded well to requests for help. (The TED prize also gives its winner ??ne wish to change the world? though some prize winners have inspired the attention and enthusiasm of the community more than others.) In Oliver’s case, many offers of help were shouted out from the audience: $10,000 to create a cookbook featuring his ten “must-know” recipes; office space and introductions to potentially helpful members of Congress; a new web site and market research for a new food line Oliver might want to create. Will any of it actually happen? We’ll have to wait and see.
