Mario Power Tennis is a terrific GameCube game because of the wacky courts, memorable cast and four-player support. That's why it's strange to see it take a nosedive on Wii as part of Nintendo's New Play Control series. Thanks to imprecise motion controls, you'll attempt a smash and perform a normal shot in the game. This not only ruins your chance at winning, but also throws off your momentum. That's too bad, because everything else works. Controlling characters is a snap with the Nunchuk's analog stick, and the graphics and sound are as delightful as ever. Mario Power Tennis is mildly enjoyable (especially with three friends), but it needed more love to ace the competition.
