Palm Pre Uses Wireless Charger

By on January 07, 2009

Yesterday I told you a little about Powermat, a company that specializes in wireless charging via electromagnetic induction, and which announced plans for products to come later this year. I first wrote about the company and the technology in June of 2007.

Well a big name in the wireless industry just got into the inductive charging business: Palm. The news is coming out of its press conference at CES in Las Vegas that its new device, the Palm Pre, will use wireless inductive charging. It will have a puck-shaped accessory called ??ouchstone?that will serve as a charger. I’ll be very interested to see whose technology Palm is using.
