Apple?? exclusive iPhone reseller in the U.S., AT&T, just reported its second-quarter results this morning. And on the conference call with investors, CFO Rick Lidner said that the new iPhone 3G has sold double the number of units of the original iPhone in the last few days of the quarter. ??e couldn?? be more thrilled with the initial response to the iPhone 3G,?Lidner said.

Does this mean Apple will sell double the number of iPhones this year than it sold back in 2007? I’ve certainly talked to people who think so. Time will tell, but so far, so good.
