Jumping onto Steve Hamm's book wiki

By on July 07, 2008

I just signed up for Steve Hamm’s wiki. He includes two chapters from his upcoming book about mobile computing, The Race for Perfect, and invites us to collaborate. The question, as in all these Web 2.0 ventures, is how many of us have time to do this free work. It’ll take lots of energy and encouragement from Steve.

Anyway, a day after I sign up for Hamm’s wiki, I get a call from my agent: How about setting up a Numerati wiki? he asks. It’s a chance to build community around the book… I’ll tell you, I’m a believer in these communities. But if we’re not careful, this new world of media is going to become a never-ending network of overlapping self-promotion campaigns. (I’ll let you know if I set up the wiki.)
