Outlook Lock-Up

As my colleague Michelle Conlin blogged today, the Wall Street Journal’s Carol Hymowitz had a piece in today’s paper that talked about so-called Outlook lock-up—the as-disturbing-as-it-sounds idea that we are so imprisoned by our schedules, so tethered to our Outlook, so bonded to our Blackberries, that we cannot break free. Many CEOs’ calendars are booked so far ahead—some have their entire schedules blocked out for them a year in advance—that they are prisoners to the hour- and half-hour long blocks of time that tend to make up their days.

How do you resist Outlook lock-up?
