The government is closed for what started out as Armistice Day to commemorate the end of WWI and has expanded. Treasury futures were bit a higher in thin electronic trading. Bonds have risen lately on a flight to safety from tumbling stocks, a worsening credit crunch and fears the U.S. economy is slowing despite some recent bullish reports.
Investors are awaiting reports this week on Pending Home Sales, Retail Sales, the PPI and the CPI for direction. Several Fed officials, including Bernanke, are speaking this week.
