Encourage girls to play Halo

This study indicates that video games boost ‘spatial skills,’ and that girls who play them not only narrow the gap with boys—but hold onto the gains over time.

Here’s the question it raises: To lock in these educational benefits, do we need to shell out for 60-inch hi-def monitors and state-of-the-art controls? Or do these recumbent phenoms in our homes derive a measure of their spatial skill from overcoming primitive pre-2K technology?

Also, not to be too dense here: What spatial skills are we talking about, and how will the lack of them handicap the gameplayers among us?
