Time for Leadership

Posted on September 10, 2007

Leadership is about the future, with a solid grasp of the present. The next time you are in an unproductive conversation about business results, a project, or an employee relationship that is not working well, listen to how many of the statements and assertions being made are about the past, the present, and the future. In unproductive conversations and meetings you will find that the majority of the discussion is about the past, and very little (if any) is about the future. Break the pattern by moving the conversation to the future with a simple statement like "Let’s look ahead for a moment," and lead the discussion to goals and the means to get them done. With that simple shift, you will lead your small business to more positive results that begin to unfold immediately.
