A Running Shoe That Lights The Way

By on July 01, 2007

Remember when Adidas introduced its shoe with a smart chip? Well, shoe design continues to turn more high-tech.

Lunar Design, a company that designs everything from tooth brushes to cell phones, has just announced it developed a running shoe that illuminates runners as they run in the dark. Called BrightWalk, the shoe uses impact from the shoe hitting the road to generate power to get light beaming from the front and the back of the shoe. The light is, apparently, strong enough to light the way for the runner. No need for pesky flashlights or head lamps. No word yet on commercial availability; but I sure want a pair!
