Shining Force EXA


Shining Force EXA feels like a slightly improved version of its predecessor, Shining Force Neo. The addition of another playable character and the customization of the Geo-Fortress help set EXA apart, but tedious game play does little to improve upon the repetitive button mashing of the last game. Forced switching between two playable characters proves annoying due to their differing abilities, the fixed camera restricts the player's view and the voice samples of party members still repeat with infuriating frequency. The lack of co-op multiplayer also represents a sad exclusion, leaving Shining Force EXA with little to offer those seeking a distinctive action-based role-playing game.
