Activision Gains on Results

Activision (ATVI

) shares moved solidly higher Friday after the company posted a 3 cents per share fourth quarter loss vs. a penny EPS on a 7.7% revenue decline. It says fourth quarter results are better than expected. It sees first quarter loss of 11 cents and fiscal year 2007 EPS of 10 cents.

Aon (AOC

) posts 57 cents vs. 59 cents first quarter earnings per share (EPS) (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) as restructuring charges and other expenses offset a 2.4% revenue rise.

Nationwide Financial (NFS

) posts 93 cents vs. $1.05 first quarter EPS (GAAP) on flat revenues, net realized losses on investments, and other items.

The New York Times reports that Johnson & Johnson (JNJ

) told employees it is dividing its pharma group into three major diseases or therapeutic clusters, each with its own Research & Development function

McData (MCDTA

) sees first quarter revenue at the low end of $167 million to $177 million guidance, and non-GAAP EPS at the low end of 3 cents to 5 cents guidance.

Bookham (BKHM

) posts worse-than-expected 34 cents third quarter loss vs. 82 cents loss (non-GAAP) despite a 7% revenue rise. It notes revenue from Nortel declined sequentially. It sees fourth quarter revenue of $52 million to $55 million and adjusted EBITDA of negative $11 million to negative $15 million.

Cost Plus (CPWM

) posts 4.3% lower first quarter same-store sales and 6.5% higher total sales. It notes first quarter sales are $2.0 million below the low end of its guidance.

Atmos Energy (ATO

) posts $1.10 vs. $1.11 second quarter EPS (GAAP) as higher costs and expenses offset a 21% rise in operating revenue. It sees 2006 EPS at the lower end of its previously announced $1.80 to $1.90 guidance.

Longs Drug Store (LDG

) posts 3.8% higher April retail drug store same-store sales, 5.2% higher pharmacy same-store sales, and 2.5% higher front-end comps. It posts 15% higher total revenue.

Open Text (OTEX

) posts 27 cents vs. 21 cents third quarter EPS as lower operating costs offset a 4.1% revenue decline. It sees 25 cents to 35 cents fourth quarter adjusted EPS on revenue of $100 million to $110 million. It names Paul McFeeters as CFO.

Chiquita Brands (CQB

) posts 46 cents vs. $1.94 first quarter EPS as higher industry, sourcing costs, and increased European banana tariffs offset a 24% sales rise.

Liveperson (LPSN

) posts a penny (including stock option expense) vs. a penny first quarter EPS as higher operating expenses offset a 39% revenue rise.

Four Seasons Hotels (FS

) posts 36 cents vs. 14 cents first quarter EPS on 12% higher revPAR at worldwide core hotels.
