In We Media, Ads That Reflect Personality.....

Heather Green

We have this explosion of creativity in blogs, podcasts, videos going on right now. And we also have marketers trying to harness that creativity, asking people who visit the sites and networks that pull these blogs and videos together to create ads.

My question is are there advertisers who also taking the step of tailoring ads to fit the personality of the site they are advertising on, sort of as an acknowledgment of the personality of the site. I know of one example, Rocketboom, the video blog that auctioned off its ads on eBay and then produced the ad, resulting in marketing that entirely new, I think.

Are there other examples out there of this kind of personality tailoring?

Here's an idea, not ad supported.

Cameraphone as Store Scanner

"ScanBuy is not profitable yet, but it has filed 25 patents."

If this ramps up, it could be huge. Barcodes could contain much more information for consumers. They could be the basis for a whole new ad business. It could be bigger than Google.

Hi Heather,

My wife isn't a techy person but once she figured out how cool pod casting was she started one for her online maternity store.

Although she would never admit it I think she represents a growing trend of women who embrace new media and all that it represents.

Her first pod cast is simple enough and we have two more about to be published when we update our pod cast page with the proper RSS feed.

Until then she's just using our .mac account. The best thing about using Graage Band is the ability to embed URL links back to the items your talking about...

Let me know if you're interested in learning more about our approach... http://community.duematernity.com/index.php

Thanks.
