Living in a bubble, TiVoing the Final Four

Stephen Baker

No TV or papers for me this morning. No MyYahoo or blog-surfing. We had guests over for dinner during the Final Four, and I haven't seen the (basketball) games yet. All the action is sitting there on the TiVo box, just waiting for me. But one of the guests is sleeping in the TV room.

In this new world of on-demand entertainment, there are times when ignorance has a very real value. Will it be possible to protect my cluelessness until this evening? That means driving into New York today without listening to news radio for updates on tunnel traffic. The opera, I'm guessing, will be nearly risk free. Not much basketball chatter there. But navigating mid-town without seeing headlines will be nearly impossible. My kids tell me the first game is the one to watch.
