Steve has written before about how the job of the classic beat reporter is changing from banging out a print story in the office to roaming the field, armed with a wireless laptop, video camera and recorder. We see it already, from PaidContent to ABC's World News Tonight video podcasts.

But here's a local twist that a collegue sent to me. The News-Press in Florida has dedicated two reporters called mobile journalists, or mojos who are equipped with digital cameras, MP3 recorders and wireless laptops. Their job is to find hyper-local stories that don't get into the newspaper and to train members of the community to file directly to the Web site.

Ah, my dream job. Hopefully this idea will pay off and other corporations will adopt the model.

I would love to learn what exactly is the technology thats being used for these mobile reports. I wish they would give more details for those tech geeks out there like me.
