The number one spot was claimed by new mother Britney Spears, the Top Search Queen three out of the past four years. 50 Cent ??aps?up the number two slot and comeback diva Mariah Carey hits a high note at number four. Rounding out the top five is the grunge-rock band Green Day, who snares the number five slot. Recently separated blond bombshell Jessica Simpson and reality royalty Paris Hilton stayed in front of the cameras and on the Top Search list for the second year in a row. Appealing to a more grown up sense of humor, the “Adult Swim” lineup helped Cartoon Network dip in at number three as the only non-human to make the list.

Oh, the high-mindedness of us, etc.

What I really want to know, though, is this: Am I the only person thinking the Cartoon Network hired 5,000 college students to search for itself on Yahoo! every day?

UPDATE: Our pal Dylan Stableford writes to point out that “Cartoon Network” may have several meanings—including a just-busted pot ring in New York.

Like I said: 5,000 college students searching every day …
