Your Patience Please

Heather Green

So Steve is away this weekend and I am not going to have access to the blogging tools necessary to keep communication going on this platform....so your patience please with the light (read no) blogging and the sporadic checking of comments.

Thanks!

How about a guest blogger or two?

Posted by: Steve Rubel at December 10, 2005 02:18 PM

After the experience I just had in trying to move into the breach using dial up, it's an excellent notion. Must discuss with powers that be...

Maybe you could call somebody, tell them what to blog and have them post it for you. It should only take a few minutes.

Heather -

In the friendliest tone possible, I found your reply comment to Steve Rubel ironic.

In this new world of "conversational journalism" which I've heard a professional blog described as, that you would need permission from the 'powers that be' to keep the conversation going.

Why wouldn't the 'powers that be' (the same people that probably approved or insisted that you start a conversation / blog in the first place) want for the conversation to continue?

We, the public, your readership/viewers/audience are keeping the conversation going by just commenting aren't we?

Joseph,

Thanks for your comment. Well, so much for my ability to be funny. I wans't being ironic when I was replying to Rubel, I was trying to make a joke. When I talk about the powers that be, I mean my bosses, who own this blog. I could make all of the decisions on my own if this were my blog. But the reality is, before I bring in someone from outside, I would need to check with my bosses.

Just another day at the office. Does the boss have a blog Heather?

Posted by: Jim Dermitt at December 12, 2005 10:47 AM

No kidding, Jim. No, both of the people I would talk to about this don't have blogs. They are big champions of us trying out new technologies. I just think that they wouldn't have much time to blog, though I never asked them about it.

Thanks Heather. Now that's funny. The big champions of new technology don't have time to blog.

A blog post takes about less than a minute, so they must be very busy. You can set a blog up in a few minutes. Maybe you can make them a blog and see if they can spare a minute to post something. It might be popular. You could call it Boss Blogs. Don't get fired though or you'll be on the outside, blogging in.

Good points, but as I said, I never asked whether they are interested in blogging or if one of the reasons they haven't at this point is because of time. So that's all just speculation.

Posted by: Heather Green at December 12, 2005 11:39 AM

But I'll definitely chat with them next time we have a meeting about blogging!
