Posted on November 28, 2005

MARKETSCOPE : The dollar was strengthening early Tuesday, as it recovered from its losses Monday.

The dollar index was up 0.44 to 91.42, after losing ground earlier amid profit taking and technical selling at the end of the month.

The euro, which rallied Monday, was down at $1.1815 amid speculation the European Central Bank will raise rates Thursday.

The sterling was off at $1.7247. The dollar was up at 119.12 yen after news that the Japanese unemployment rate rose to a higher than expected 4.5% level, October Industrial Production rose less than expected 0.6%, and workers' spending rose 1.3% year on year after rallying 0.4% in September.
