'Buoyant' is the word for today

Bloomberg News writes today:

New reports on U.S. consumer confidence, new home sales and durable goods orders depicted an even more buoyant economy than some analysts previously thought.

Is the economy 'buoyant'? It makes me think of a rubber ducky bobbing in a bathtub.
