SAP (SAP) agreed to acquire the privately held Khimetrics, a leading U.S-based provider of enterprise software solutions, for an undisclosed amount.
Inamed (IMDC) Medicis Pharmaceutical (MRX) gave notice to Inamed's board of directors requesting it recommend to its shareholders that they reject Allergan (AGN)'s exchange offer. Allergan has offered to buy Inamed for either $84 in cash per share or 0.8498 of Allergan stock.
Deere & Co (DE) posted better-than-expected 96 cents vs. $1.41 fourth quarter earnings per share on 1% lower worlwide net sales. It expects first quarter net income in the $175 million to $200 million range.
Dollar Tree Stores (DLTR) posted 29 cents vs. 28 cents third quarter earnings per share on 1% lower same-store sales and 10% higher total sales. It sees 74 cents to 80 cents fourth quarter earnings per share on $1.035 billion to $1.065 billion sales, and $1.53 to $1.59 EPS in fiscal year 2006 on $3.35 billion to $3.38 billion sales.
Eaton Vance (EV) posted 31 cents vs. 27 cents fourth quarter earnings per share on a 14% revenue rise, driven by higher average assets under management.
Cooper (COO) cut its 96 cents to 99 cents fourth quarter earnings per share guidance to between 83 cents and 86 cents on $219 million to $222 million revenue. It cited the forex rate, softness in U.S. sales of spherical soft contact lenses, and operating issues due to weather conditions. It also cut its fiscal year 2006 and fiscal year 2007 guidance.
Tech Data (TECD) posted 40 cents vs. 64 cents third quarter GAAP earnings per share as higher costs offset a 6.6% sales rise. It posted 53 cents third quarter operating earnings per share. It sees 63 cents to 69 cents fourth quarter earnings per share from continuing operations. It raises its share buyback to $200 million.
Albertson's (ABS) posted 21 cents vs. 29 cents third quarter earnings per share on flat same-store sales and flat total sales. It narrows its $1.37 to $1.47 fiscal year 2006 earnings per share from continuing operations guidance to $1.37 to $1.40.
H.J. Heinz (HNZ) posted 60 cents vs. 56 cents second quarter GAAP earnings per share on a 6.3% sales rise.
Textron (TXT) sees $1.10 to $1.20 fourth quarter earnings per share, primarily reflecting the sale of its interest in a helicopter platform. It noted that a fourth quarter lower tax rate and research benefits will be more than offset by higher bad debt expenses, product recall, and other items.
Mothers Work (MWRK) posted a better-than-expected $1.01 fourth quarter loss vs. 76 cents loss on a 1% same-store sales drop and 12% total sales rise. It sees a 3.0% to 3.5% first quarter fiscal year 2006 same-store sales rise and 8 cents loss to breakeven. It also sees 64 cents to 87 cents fiscal year earings per share.
Brookdale Senior (BKD) said its initial 11.1 million shares were offered at $19 per share.
Scottish Power (SPI) ended takeover talks with Germany's E.ON, which had proposed GBP5.70 per share, less special dividends. Scottish Power says the price didn't reflect fair value and it is to implement corporate restructuring.
Brown Shoe (BWS) posted $1.04 vs. $1.00 third quarter earnings per share on a 20% sales rise. It sees 46 cents to 61 cents fourth quarter earnings per share.
