BW's Michelle Conlin has the tale of how the European bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein got fed up with e-mail and plunged headlong into new collaboration services such as internal blogs, instant messaging, and wikis from Socialtext. After a long gestation period, this stuff might finally be catching on widely.

I have been impressed how fast the WikiPedia project has taken off. The trendlines for the number or articles and hits appear to be growing exponentially. Why is it that there are no similar sites that are built with tools like Sharepoint?
