Before taking on the role of director in July 2001, Pihakis served nearly two years as associate director of admissions for the MBA program at UC Berkeley. He has also worked in undergraduate admissions at Vanderbilt University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in psychology. Pihakis holds a PhD in education from Stanford University.
