M&A market churning along
The M&A boom that began last year continues. The volume of announced deals may well be the strongest since 2000, according to Thomson Financial. But it's still not as the boom that ended in 2000, when the value of announced deals was running at twice the pace, or $1.7 trillion. So far this year, announced deals in the U.S are at $745 billion, compared with $829 billion for all of last year.
