Back in the Swing
I was only gone a few days (hanging out on the warm, warm beaches of Florida's panhandle)....but geez it's hard to get back into blogging.
I read through some blogs, checked out the happenings of the past few days. While following the world of tech and blogging is interesting, it's like looking inside an aquarium. It's a whole world once you're in there, but from the outside, it's just another of many worlds to chose from.

Totally agree. And I also think it is more true the further you get geographically from the epicenters like Silicon Valley, Seattle, and New York. I can't tell you how often I get in a conversation with a friend or colleague and I start talking about things that are really views from inside the aquarium and they look at me like I'm from another planet. It is easy for people inside the community to convince themselves that we are the world (can I get some Stevie Wonder?), but there's a great big world out there that couldn't care less about blogs and RSS and web 2.0.

i'm always amazed when i pull myself away from this high bandwidth opiate-of-the-masses how life goes on outside. people actually talk to each other; use their real names; admire each other's faces, figures, cars, houses; sometimes there's physical violence. maybe i'll stay here where it's safe.
