GE Agrees to Acquire InVision Technologies


General Electric (GE) agrees to acquire InVision Technologies (INVN), a maker of explosives detection systems that are used at airports for screening checked passenger baggage, in an all-cash deal valued at $900 million, or $50 per share. (3/15)

Xicor (XICO) agreed to be acquired by Intersil (ISIL) in a $529 million deal. Terms: $8.00 cash and 0.335 Intersil share for each Xicor share. (3/15)

Humboldt Bancorp (HBEK) agrees to be acquired by Umpqua Holdings Corp. (UMPQ) in a stock deal valued at about $340 million. Terms: one UMPQ share for each HBEK share.

Electronic Data Systems (EDS) agreed to sell its UGS PLM Solutions software unit for $2.05 billion cash to a group of three private equity firms: Bain Capital, Silver Lake Partners, and Warburg Pincus. (3/15)

Newell Rubbermaid (NWL) will sell three businesses (Burnes Picture Frame, Anchor Glass, and Mirro Cookware) to Global Home Products, LLC, an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management. Newell expects gross proceeds of $310 million. (3/15)
