The Mutual Funds S&P Likes Best

Q: What do you think about short-term corporate bonds?

A: Before we go to the question, I'd just like to point out that our research is completely independent, as Standard & Poor's does not sell, promote, or distribute any funds and does not do any investment banking.

Now back to that question: In terms of a short-term corporate bond fund, I think it could be an attractive investment, assuming the economic recovery proceeds as planned. However, in a rising interest-rate environment, all bond funds are going to suffer -- it's just a matter of the degree.

Q: What fund families show up most often on the S&P Select Funds list?

A: American funds show up most often on the Select Funds list, although no one family has more than two funds on the list.
