Berkshire Hathaway Agrees to Acquire Clayton Homes

Clayton Homes (CMH

), a manufactured-housing company, agrees to be acquired by Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B

) for $12.50 per share, or about $1.7 billion. (4/2)

Financial transactions processors Concord EFS (CE

) and First Data (FDC

) agree to merge in an all-stock transaction valued at about $7 billion. The companies said First Data will exchange 0.40 common shares for each Concord common share held, which values Concord at a buyout price of $13.87 a share. (4/2)

) has dropped out of the auction process for the DirecTV unit owned by Hughes Electronics (GMH

), possibly leaving a clear field for News Corp. (NWS
