Quintiles Receives Buyout Offer

Quintiles Transnational (QTRN) says that Pharma Services Co., a newly-formed corporation wholly owned by Quintiles Chairman and founder Dennis Gillings, has made a non-binding proposal to acquire Quintiles for $11.25 per share in cash, or about $1.3 billion. Quintiles is a leading provider of contract research, sales, marketing, and health-care policy consulting and health information to the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical devices industries.
